Hue to Halong Bay

06/02 - 08/02

We arrived in Hue (another World Heritage site in Vietnam) after another sleeper train journey. We visited the Citadel, the former imperial city on the northern bank of the Song Huong (Perume River). Unfortunately we weren't dressed appropriately (oops) so we couldn't go into the Forbidden Purple City and visit the temples and tombs!!

From Hue we travelled across a mountain, the route was on Top Gear lol. The mountain used to be home to the Americans during the War so we stopped at some old war bunkers on the way before arriving at Halong Bay.

We stayed at Bai Chay for the night and the following day we went on a boat trip to visit the hundreds and hundreds of limestone islands. We had a seafood lunch, which Sarah and Hannah DESTROYED and went kayaking around the bay. It is not a good idea to go kayaking when there is wind, other boats and floating houses all in the same area!!
