Jungle Timeeee!!

So we've swapped strawberries and tea for a couple of days in the jungle!!

After a 3 hour bus journey and 3 hour boat ride up river we arrived at Taman Negara (which has the worlds oldest jungle at 130 million years old - fact of day!!) We are staying at Kuala Tahan the only village in Taman Negara!! Kate and I sent Bethan and Hannah off to find a hostel while we chatted to the man about the jungle! They could only find a room for £2 which we later discovered had rats, cockroaches and flying bugs in! So Kate and I took on the task of finding a nicer hostel aka Julie's Hostel!! Two randoms who were staying in the rat infested hostel ended up sleeping on our floor!

After a night in Julie's we manage to get up for a buffet breakfast where we stole snacks for the day ahead, Bethan going so far as to stash cereal and pancakes in her rucksack lol! During breakfast we saw a Tapia wandering around outside the restaurant! This was our first animal sighting of the day and couldn't wait to start our adventure! We were all sweating as soon as we started trekking but even so managed to get a new addition to the group Nicholas from Argentina! We walked across the canopy walk called Titian Silara which is the world longest hanging bridge and it was a long way down! We then headed to the viewpoint which was over a mile walk UPHILL!! (under statement of the century/stair way to eternal pain/ i wanted to kill my self/ sweat attack/ asthma attack) we finally made it to the top!!

After saying bye to Nicholas we started the next journey to the Hide - we basically planned to stay in a tree top/hut on a platform for the night!! After walking for 7 hours in the heat with max 90% humidity we OBVIOuSLY got lost!! Why didnt we just take a guide?? The sun was setting and we decided to head back to the village all very disappointed but at least i got to wear my head torch!! Even though we didn't stay in the hide we did manage to see, a Tapia, A Boar and it's baby, Monkeys, Slow loris (Kate's fav), Peacock, Flying lizard, Snakes, Cockroaches, Spiders, Beetles and Other grim bugs!!

As a reward for their hard work and as a consolation prize Kate and Bethan decided to get a steak (probs most expensive meal so far) Then as we had no where to stay we headed back to Julie's and she had a room! Praise Jesus!!

Now we are all on bed hanging out of our arses and can't feel our legs!! Hope all is well at home!

Love Ginge xxx
