Christchurch!

Yesterday we spent the day in Christchurch, we went into the town centre, or as far as you can go and had a look around the Red Zone area. Since the earthquake you can't enter part of the city because buildings are still unstable and there's so much construction work underway.

We went to Quake City exhibition where you hear the story of the earthquake and they have iconic objects that fell during the earthquake on display! We experienced the Ruaumoko Maori legend - Maoris believe Ruaumoko is trapped underneath the earth and the earthquakes are him trying to get out! There is also information about recent earthquakes an apparently a mini earthquake happened while we were there but it was so small we didn't feel a thing!!

We visited the clock tower that stopped at the time of the earthquake and visited Coshell mall. A new mall has been built using cargo containers and it looks so funky and cool!! They should defo keep that going!! Don't knock it down!! We also went to New Brighton, the coast is only a 20 min drive away and we walked along the Pier.

One evening we went for food in a restaurant that overlooked the whole of Christchurch and we went to the Port Hills for a better look!

There wasn't a better way to finish off New Zeland than with a home cooked Sunday Roast, even if it was a Monday! It's been more than three months since I've had one and it was worth the wait!! Curt you got some skills and I wonder who you got then off?

Love you lots NZ x
